We analyzed 12 kinds of isoflavones contained in a prime core set of Korean soybean germplasms using high-performance liquid chromatography with diode-array detection (HPLC/DAD). Malonylgenistin (MGE) accounted for the highest content at 129.80¡3,437.88 ¥ìg/g, malonyldaidzin (MDA) was 97.78¡3,231.85 ¥ìg/g, and the total isoflavone content was 255.29¡6,707.23 ¥ìg/g. Principal component analysis was performed to confirm that CMJ17105, CMJ17407, and CMJ17359 had high isoflavone content among the core set of germplasms. As a result of Pearson¡¯s correlation analysis, MDA (r=0.919***), acetyldaidzin (ADA; r=0.923***), and MGE (r=0.943***) showed a high correlation of significance with total isoflavone. Using a heatmap including cluster analysis, a core set of soybean germplasms was divided into 5 groups according to the isoflavone content and composition. This study provides information on a core set of germplasms with high isoflavone content. This information can be useful for breeding high-quality soybean cultivars and developing soy processed foods.
